In addition to full-time letterpress printing, I am also student of nature and horticulture.  In the classroom I pursued a Certificate of Horticulture at the Barnes Arboretum in Lower Merion, PA, and at home I'm particularly interested in native gardening, wildlife and pollinator plants.

Soon after entering my program at the Barnes Arboretum, I was given the great opportunity to collect specimens from their excellent Fern Collection for a print project.  I produced a series of bookplates, cards and calendars that were sold at the Barnes Museum shop in Philadelphia. From there this small collection grew into my fascination with the intersection of botanical collecting and printmaking. If you peruse my daily photos of life in and around my studio, you’ll find that these years of study had a great impact on my life and work.
